Tips on Approaching Women
Trying to figure out if that cute girl across the room is really smiling at you? Do you want to talk to her but are not sure how to start? If she is sending you signals such as making eye contact and holding it, smiling, or playing with her hair or jewelry, then she is telling you that she wants to talk to you. Get up and talk to her. No matter what your fears are, you need to approach her and strike up a conversation. Just walk towards her and on the way over you will find something to talk to her about. Does she have jewelry on that is different or unique? Did she just get done playing a game of pool with her girlfriends? Was she just dancing? Talk to her about it. Compliment her on her jewelry or dance moves. Ask how often she plays pool. Use it to open the doorway to a conversation about interests.
Ignore those inner excuses as to why you can’t approach her. Ignore the voice that says she is out of your league or she’s probably not interested in someone like you. Instead focus on the feeling you will have if you don’t go talk to her. Use that fear as a sign that you need to go talk to her. Don’t put unreasonable pressure on yourself. Don’t look at her as a potential date or someone who will reject you. Look at this as an opportunity to work on your approach.
Once you start the conversation, pay attention to what she is saying. If she mentions that sh went to the movies with friends last week, ask her about it. Ask how often she goes to the movies. What are her favorite movies? What was the last movie she saw that she really loved? Ask anything that will open up the conversation to what her interests are.
Don’t ask if she will go out with you. Offer an opportunity to meet again and get to know each other better. Offer to meet her on another night for a drink or dinner and see what she says. If she says no, then you can move on. It’s ok if she is not interested, the next one might be.
Don’t talk about your past hurts. She doesn’t want to hear about the time your ex-girlfriend cheated, or your ex-fiancé left you at the alter. At least not at this point. Keep the conversation light and fun while you are just starting to get to know each other.
Remember that everyone gets rejected sometimes. It is a normal part of the dating scene. No one can please everyone they meet. Some people are looking for someone who is tall and dark, some like short and pale, some like thin, and some like heavy. You will not fit into everyone’s ideal, so don’t take rejection personally. You just didn’t fit what they are interested in. No matter what you will meet a lot of new people and get a ton of chances to work on your skills at approaching. With each person you meet you will get more confident and that confidence will help you too. |
